He is still The World's Largest Crocs!

Lolong was the largest crocodile in captivity. He was an Indo-Pacific or Saltwater crocodile (Crocodylus porosus) measured at 20 feet 3 inches (6.17 m), making him one of the largest crocodiles ever measured from snout-to-tail. Guinness World of Records confirmed that Lolong is the world's longest crocodile ever caught and placed in captivity replacing cassius from australia.
Lolong was caught in a Bunawan creek in the province of Agusan del Sur in the Philippines on September 3, 2011.
He was captured with the joint cooperation of the local government unit, residents and crocodile hunters of Palawan. The giant crocodile was hunted over a period of three weeks, and, once he was found, it took around 100 people to bring him onto land.He became aggressive at several points during the capture, and twice broke restraining ropes before eventually being properly secured. He is estimated to be at least 50 years old.
Lolong was suspected of eating a farmer who went missing in the town of Bunawan, and also of consuming a 12-year-old girl whose head was discovered two years earlier. He was also the primary suspect in the disappearance of water buffaloes in the area. The capture of Lolong is a good advantage in protecting him for survival, against danger he posed to the humans, an attraction and income for the locality, and an opportunity for scientific study.
Bunawan made Lolong the centerpiece of an eco-tourism park for species found in the marshlands near the township. Since its capture and subsequent measurement and confirmation of international crocodile experts that Lolong was the planet’s largest in captivity, Bunawan town has become a tourism draw, with revenues running in the millions of pesos. The resort in upland Consuelo village where the crocodile had been kept was drawing hundreds of eager local and international tourists daily, generating up to P20,000 of gate receipts per day.
But a sad news broke out to the world at around 8:30 PM last sunday. The 20.4-foot worlds largest croc is dead. Filipinos expressed sadness over the death of Lolong.  As early as after Typhoon Pablo hit Agusan del Sur and other parts of Mindanao last December, Lolong, showed unusual changes. He refused to eat since last month and one of his caretaker noticed  there was a change in the color of his feces and  an unusual ballooning of his belly and the weather has been cold lately, maybe, that affected him. The cause of the croc death is still unknown until the result of his necropsy .

Experts from Protected Areas and Wildlife Bureau, Palawan Wildlife and Rescue Center, and Davao Crocodile Park perform a necropsy on the belly of Lolong at the Bunawan Eco-Park in Agusan del Sur early dawn Tuesday (12 January 2013). Their initial findings were inconclusive, and the experts said they have to conduct more laboratory tests and results may come in two weeks.
It took several men just to turn the 20-foot crocodile’s body upside down. I read all the news about his death and I was in awe of what could have been the cause of his death. I have learned that lolong suffered and died because people wanted to make money off his captivity. The concrete pen where Lolong had stayed for about 18 months is not an ideal place to live in for a crocodile its size. He suffered extreme distress and misery. No zoo can come close to providing what even small crocodiles need, much less a crocodile the size of Lolong. Crocodiles are hardwired to roam freely, seek out mates, and hunt for food. These genetic imperatives are compelling, and the way that they are fulfilled in the wild cannot be replicated in captivity. They are nocturnal and, in their natural homes, they feed primarily at night. Crocodiles shun contact with humans, and captive crocodiles like Lolong never become tame.
This harsh truth made me asked should the government stop capturing animals from the wild?
Lolong had put Bunawan and the Philippines on the map by being the world’s largest reptile and that’s a record that can’t be erased anymore. The local government asked assistance from the National Museum to have Lolong’s body preserved. In that way we can still look and marvel at him. Last night i heard that they're going to make him 3D! Goodbye Lolong!
Lolong, you've been part of the Philippine History and in the heart of every Filipinos worldwide you're still the worlds largest crocs ever!   (picture credits to reuters, getty, mindanao news and google.com)

the day the pope resigned

My mom and I was watching news channel when i heard a sad breaking news from the Vatican,  Pope Benedict XVI will resign! we were shocked of course. who would ever thought that the pope can really resign? I turn on the computer to verify the sad news and it is real.

the following clippings are what yahoo said about the said resignation.

Pope Benedict XVI announces his resignation at the Vatican on February 11, 2013. Only a few advisers knew of the pope's plan beforehand and many leaders of the Vatican hierarchy were caught off guard, with Cardinal Angelo Sodano saying the announcement came "like a lightning bolt in a clear blue sky"
A flash of lighting is seen over St.Peter's Basilica during a rainstorm at Vatican in this picture provided by Ansa on February 11, 2013. Pope Benedict stunned the Roman Catholic Church on Monday when he announced he would stand down, the first pope to do so in 700 years, saying he no longer had the mental and physical strength to carry on.
here is Pope Benedict XVI profile. i never know this and would have known this if it werent for yahoo or if  he wasnt resigning after all. Unlike Pope John Paul II i never had the chance of knowing Pope Benedict. All i know is that he is the new pope, he writes well and he will be called holly father. 8 years ago when Pope John Paul died i used to watch news about the vatican waiting for them to announce the new pope. days had passed until the conclave proclaim a new papal. and now he is resigning. i only watched him on TV during easter and christmas and new years mass and when he proclaim pedro calungsod as the second filipino saint. that's all pope benedict memories i have.
a closer look of that lightning goes like this. i dont know what is the connection or how am i going to interpret that. or was it a co incidence because of the bad weather that strike vatican or whatever.
Priests in St Peter's Square at the Vatican after it was announced that Pope Benedict XVI will resign on February 11, 2013. i guess they too were shocked!
Pope Benedict XVI's apartments are lit up the evening after he resigned on February 11, 2013. The world's top political and religious leaders expressed shock and regret at Pope Benedict XVI's resignation, but declared respect for his tenure and leadership of 1.1 billion Catholics
Some of the faithful carry a cross on the steps of St Peter's Basilica at the Vatican after it was announced that Pope Benedict XVI will resign on February 11, 2013. Pope Benedict XVI on February 11, 2013 announced he will resign on February 28, a Vatican spokesman told AFP, which will make him the first pope to do so in centuries.
i wish the pope will continue to have a good health and stay happy and for us catholic to keep the faith. god bless you pope benedict!

killua is watching tv

when it comes to watching tv i am an avid fun of korean and japanesse films. much that i like filipino drama of course but what i like most of the korean drama is that the viewers dont have a clear view of what would be its ending and that's what excites me the most. you dont have a choice but to watch every episodes. even when my abeoji was still alive we do watch korean drama during free time. they got different styles. from fashion, make-up brands, the clothes and shoes they wear, their hair, the location  and the house. i love korean houses. i love the way how they portray their character. they are unique. maybe because we dont see or hear from them that often and we only see them over youtube or pirated dvd's. i have nothing against filipino films but i found a lot of twist to korean and japanese. so every time i am free i used to watch korean drama on youtube. although my heart belongs to anime, i really find time and space in my heart for korean films and japanesse too.

sometimes the translations sucks but at least they've tried translating it. here are my favorites.

1. Blind
This is a great psycho-thriller-suspense that you'll never get bored to watch.  I enjoyed watching this and gave me goosebumps! i even chilled as i watched the suspense scenes. Kim Haneul really did a bang-up job in portraying a blind character, and managed to be both vulnerable and cunning all at once. The dog did a great job too.

2. Koizora (sky of love)...
This story is about a girl called Mika and is about to experience love for the first time. She and her friend Aya exchange phone numbers with Nozumu, a guy that Aya likes. Then one day Nozumu was drunk calls Mika and then a stranger talks to her on the phone. She felt really calm talking to the person and she couldnt wait to meet him. Then when she went back to school she meets Hiro, whom she talked on the phone all Summer and she realizes he wasn't the person she thought he would be. They immediately fall in love and they started to get along really well. Mika was going to have a baby. Hiro's ex-girlfriend,Saki tells Mika to break up with Hiro and harrased her, causing Mika's miscarriage.
Hiro and Mika's relationship was on and off. They break up. Hiro then dates other girls. Mika isnt over Hiro. Then Mika meets another guy called Yuu and at the start he treats her like a little sister and then later he falls in love with her and start with a relationship.

a beautiful sad love story of a two high school students.
i did cry watching this....love has no boundaries. watch it and tell me your story. dont forget  to bring tissue.

3. Love story in Harvard
Love Story in Harvard portrays the dream and love pursued by foreign students studying in Harvard. It demonstrates bright, hard-working, and romantic characters and storylines. The first half of the series is set at Harvard University and is mainly concerned with the burgeoning relationship between a Harvard Law School student, Kim Hyun Woo, and a Harvard Medical School student, Lee Soo In.

Kim Hyun Woo and Alex Hong  are two first-year students at Harvard Law School, both from South Korea. Alex applies himself more and as such is the favorite of Professor John H. Keynes. Hyun Woo, who initially has a hard time adjusting to the workload, falls into the bad graces of the professor, who repeatedly humiliates or ignores him. However, Hyun Woo perseveres and eventually wins the respect of Professor Keynes and his classmates. Both men meet and fall for Lee Soo-In, a third-year Korean student at Harvard Medical School. This intensifies the rivalry between them.

Hyun Woo and Soo-In grow closer and eventually start dating. However, their relationship is short-lived as Soo-In's application to join OEP, an organization that provides medical care to patients in Third World countries, is accepted. After spending a night together, Soo In breaks off all contact with Hyun Woo and leaves to work in South America, leaving him devastated.

The second half of the story takes place mainly in Seoul, after Hyun Woo and Alex have graduated from Harvard Law School. Hyun Woo is now an idealistic lawyer, refusing to take on lucrative corporate cases and only defending people he feels have no voice in the legal system. Alex, who remained in the US after graduation, returns to Korea to take on a case for an international chemicals company, which is being accused of dumping toxic substances. Hyun Woo becomes involved in the same case, although on the side of the victims demanding compensation. In addition, Soo-In also returns to Korea at around the same time to conduct some medical research. Unknown to her at first, the research is related to the chemicals case that Alex and Hyun Woo are both working on, and predictably the three meet up again.

Although Hyun Woo is still angry at Soo-In for leaving him so abruptly, he still has feelings for her, as does Alex. Alex eventually reconciles with both Hyun Woo and Soo-In, helping them to win the case against the chemicals company. He returns to the United States to take up a teaching post at Harvard Law, while Hyun Woo and Soo-In marry and have children.

4. Lie To Me
Lie to Me is the story of Gong Ah Jung, a civil servant who lies to her friends about being married. By some misunderstanding, it becomes widely circulated that she is married to the rich, stuck up business executive Hyun Ki Joon. The lie spirals out of control, turning their lives upside down.

I love how Ah Jung’s father is being protective of her even though she is in her late 20s. He loves to compete with Ki Joon.

Coke Kiss is the best kissing scene! Hilarious yet romantic.
The Public Love Confession was really amazing!

5. 7th grade civil servant
Secret agent Ahn Su-Ji works undercover as a bride-to-be real estate agent. Her real life boyfriend Jae-Joon is completely distraught over Su-Ji’s frequent absences and even harder to believe excuses. Jae-Joon then decides to leave her and for that matter the country of Korea itself. He calls Su-Ji one last time at the airport Incheon International Airport, but unfortunately Su-Ji is unable to answer his call because she is working undercover to bust an international crime organization.

Three years later, with Jae-jun long gone, but not forgotten Su-ji works on a Russian mafia case involving biological weapons. During her undercover work, Su-Ji poses as a janitor and runs into Jae-Joon while cleaning the men’s restroom. Su-Ji completely loses her composure and attacks Jae-jun for leaving her and apparently lying about his whereabouts.

Meanwhile, Jae-Joon has his own secrets. Jae-Joon is also a secret agent, but works in a different department from Su-ji. When Jae-Joon left Korea three years ago, he was actually assigned to track the very same Russian organization that Su-Ji is currently working to bust.

Now that the former lovers have met again they resume their romantic relationship, while trying to keep their real identity unknown to the other person. They also have to stop the Russian mob from gaining a weapon of mass destruction ...this is really funny! i love the action.

let's trick or treat!

Photo's courtesy by google.com

Do you end up with only one bag full of candy at the end of Halloween? Here's how to end up with two or more! (all text here are from the wikiHow)

1. Think back on last year's Halloween in your neighborhood. Which houses had the best candies, and which had the worst or "so-so" candies? The aim is to bypass those houses only interested in giving out toothbrushes, apples, and granola bars, or those houses where the candies are meted out in small amounts.

A neighborhood with small yards and sidewalks allows you to hit more houses in the allotted time. And apartment complexes with many doors can cut down on walking time.

When assessing who gives out lots of candies, ask friends if they can also come up with such knowledge to allow you to compare notes and target the houses that give the most of the biggest selections. If you're planning with friends, you can also trade later to help even out the candy selection you ultimately receive.

2. Prepare your costume. The quality and fanciness of your costume can affect how many candies you're given. The more interesting, cute, scary, etc., your costume, the more likely that the candy giver will "reward" you for your effort by giving you more candy. Be sure to act in character too, to help complete the effect and totally win over the candy givers.

3. Choose a suitable bag. Use a backpack, a large bag with a drawstring, or a pillowcase to hold all of your trick and treat loot. The bag needs to be easy to carry, able to hold a lot comfortably and strong.

If using a pillowcase and you're concerned it might break or you see it is frayed or even has a hole or two, double it up with another pillowcase.

If possible, also have a smaller basket or container. This will enable you to keep your larger treat bag stashed somewhere safe to return to and refill regularly. Or, if you're in your own street, run home and dump the loot and head out again.

It's recommended that you add a light or reflective tape to your candy bag to help make you more visible after dark.

4. Prepare a map of your intended best candy-giving houses trail. It can be street specific or just a general idea of where to go and where to avoid. This map may help you to keep on track when the foot traffic and parties increase during the night but it can also serve as a reminder of which houses usually have the best candies. Use the map as a reminder of where you went as well, so that you don't back track and waste time or look greedy!

If you're turning up in another suburb known for its amazing candies on Halloween, a map and plan is an absolute must so that you don't get lost.

5. Make a suitable time to start trick or treating. It's best to start early, when the treats are still in plentiful supply in the houses of your neighborhood. Some houses run out early because they're too generous to begin with; you might as well be the first to take advantage of this generosity!

The majority of parents take their young children out at the beginning of sunset, to let the kids have a sufficient time before dark. If you want to start this early, be aware you'll be turning up with the little ones. If you have younger siblings, this can be a good excuse to turn up too, or just offer to take the neighbor's kids with you.
Note that some cities or neighborhoods start to turn off their lights between 8 pm and 10 pm; don't be out treating too late or you'll miss the treats or get the dregs.

Watch the houses that turn off their lights; this is the standard indication that Halloween is over for that household, or that they've run out of goodies.

6. Bring your manners. Grown-ups like manners, it's just the way they're built; accept that being polite will win you more candies than being evasive, gruff, or rude. Compliment the householder on their Halloween decorations. And always say "Trick or Treat?" with a big smile. The evening is about having fun with others; be thoughtful enough to make it seem that each house is worth more than just being a loot filling station!

Avoid lingering at any Halloween parties, haunted houses, or special events. Even though they all look or sound cool, every minute counts while going from house to house in one night. Any obstacle will deter you from your candy goal. Unless you're certain that there is candy to be had at any of these places, consider not even venturing into them. You can always go back and check them out later (mark them on your map).

Don't eat your candies as you're going. The time spent eating them and the sugar high will slow you down!

Double back in a new costume. If you're really keen for more candies, change your costume or mask and return for more. If you do this though, make sure you're not recognizable or the people might refuse to give you anything, or worse, demand that you give back the second lot of candy.

Another tip is to empty your container as often as possible so that it looks as if you've just started treating or as if other people have been stingy; this may encourage people to offer you more candies than if your bucket is full.

7. Form a candy gang. This way more of you can cover greater distances and then share your spoils together. Gather back together at a certain time and place to share or trade candies. Use a trading method on two small candies for a big one or qualities per candy. The trading method works when someone does not like something they got and would like another candy or when they've hit the jackpot and have been given too many of one sort.

When you do go trick or treating as a group, keep the numbers small. It's less overwhelming for the householder to have a few kids on the doorstep, and easier to give out the candies. It's also less likely to result in trading arguments at the end.

If you have a bike and a bike basket, use them. It is quick and easy transportation.

If you have broken a limb, go with the cast showing for sympathy candy. This works best with younger kids or cuter and less scary costumes.

If you have a family member or friend who drives, ask them to pick you up and drop you off in another neighborhood for different results.

While it may be fun to try on getting loads of candy, stay safe while crossing the street or darting in the middle of roads.

If you live very close to a long street with many houses they may all have candy! You can get tons and some may even set bowls of candy outside to take for yourself (if you want to maximize your candy, take the whole bowl – knowing that you're pretty much a meanie doing so).

If you have a sibling or cousin, this is a must. You both go your separate ways for a while but make sure you are both supervised, then when you come back take her on your street so they can give your sibling/cousin candy-and you.

Some people may say you're too old, so have an excuse. A good, believable one would be "I'm just taking my younger brother/sister/cousin." Or laugh it off and say "I'm yet to grow up and I've still got a sweet tooth!"

Wear something flexible so you can go to more houses without being uncomfortable. Try to wear something that reflects in car headlights for safety.

You'll need a backpack to store extra costumes, back-up candy bags, and anything else you want to bring with you.

If you are really desperate for more candies, take along another basket and say it's for your sick friend or sibling. The karma of such a lie rests with you.

If your parents aren't keen on pillowcases leaving the house, buy some cheap from a thrift store.

If it's toward the end of the night, ask them if they think they're going to have leftover candy that will just get thrown out. If they say yes, ask if you can have an extra piece or two. They might even give you three or four. If they overestimated how much they should buy, or it's a rainy night (and there weren't a lot of trick or treaters), they might even give you more! Just remember to be polite when you ask.

If the person lets you grab the candy out of the bucket yourself, put on a sweet voice and ask, 'How many can I get?'.

Donate the extra! You don't have to eat it all yourself!

Warnings!
If you see that the front lights are off, do not ring the doorbell. It means that they're not participating and they might be annoyed by you doing so.

If it is late (after 10pm), do not go to houses with lights off. They may be sleeping or fed up with the trick and treating.

Try and stick together. Bring a friend or two with you for safety.

Don't scare the little kids to get candy, it's mean and is likely to get you into trouble.

Even though its Halloween, don't eat too much candy in one night. it's best that you save some for other nights and, eating too much can get you sick. Keep a stash to enjoy over the upcoming weeks.

Enjoy your trick or treating! Happy Halloween!

a road that leads tomorrow

We often see a lot of people complaining about work. A majority of them regard working as an extremely hard, vapid and low earning affliction. They always dream to live a happy life without working. But in reality, it’s is not possible to live without doing work. Each individual needs to work for various reasons, no matter whether he is the son of the billionaire or a layman struggling with poverty. To the best of my knowledge, the most common reasons for people to work are to acquire enormous knowledge, money and to enjoy life.

Firstly, people work to sharpen their skills as well as to learn many aspects of knowledge to solve the problems that helps them to overcome difficulties. Work gives us wisdom. Without working no one can improve his/her skills, knowledge and intelligence. Thus those who work hard enjoy a wonderful life.

Secondly, people work to realize the value of living by producing large amount of goods and services. A farmer is not a farmer until he plant crops; a teacher is not a teacher until she teach classes. They all have their responsibilities and they also win our respects because of their contributions to the society. That’s the meaning of life, which gives us courage and confidence to exert our powers to build a happy home.

We work to keep us healthy. We can communicate with each other during work. Meanwhile, we are helped and encouraged. We have to work to relieve our pressure. When you do something you are very competent, you will view it as a kind of entertainment. You even find joy from them. If we don’t work, we will become torpid and fat.

At the outside, it might seem obvious that jobs are just to earn our daily bread. But we explore the facts beyond the selection of job, there are myriad of factors that go together in selecting a job. Earning money might be a priority because no one likes to live in penury, but it is not the only determining factor. I feel that the selection of a job based on remuneration might be apriority for entry-level aspirants who are in searching for their first job. But once people climb up the corporate ladder there are other factors one looks for. Going by my own experience I would say job satisfaction, recognition is society and realization of a long dream or vision will become the deciding factors as we progress.

With the information technology (which is the most human resource dependent industry) growing at an exorbitant rate, Human resource managers have a tough time to understand what is really needed to retain the cream of talents in their organization. Recent studies show that job satisfaction and recognition are the prime factors that matter to the best talents, of course not to mention a competitive compensation package.

Every man has a vision, and continuous progress in the realization of their vision gives a great feeling of satisfaction and moral boosting. I believe that without this vision we would never have our soldiers sleeplessly safeguarding our country. ‘Serve with honor’ is the mantra which keeps them going strong. It is the same sense of responsibility and pride in serving the humankind that propels the doctors to serve the people without looking at their watches.

Every job is important and has their pros and cons. But it is still our social stigma to weight a person based on their profession. It is this stigma which instigates the people to be finicky in the selection of a job when it comes to social recognition. Even in a social gathering the treatment given to a so-called executive is totally contrast to that of an ordinary low profile truck driver. Yes, people love to be recognized and it does matter to have a job worthy of it.

I believe that working is a tool by which we can make a key to the gate of knowledge; it is a road that leads to tomorrow, and it is a prescription that keeps us fit. All in all, working provides us so much that I love work.

the three tree

Once upon a mountain top, three little trees stood and dreamed of what they wanted to become when they grew up. The first little tree looked up at the stars and said: "I want to hold treasure. I want to be covered with gold and filled with precious stones. I'll be the most beautiful treasure chest in the world!"

The second little tree looked out at the small stream trickling by on it's way to the ocean. "I want to be traveling mighty waters and carrying powerful kings. I'll be the strongest ship in the world!"

The third little tree looked down into the valley below where busy men and women worked in a busy town. "I don't want to leave the mountain top at all. I want to grow so tall that when people stop to look at me, they'll raise their eyes to heaven and think of God. I will be the tallest tree in the world."

Years passed. The rain came, the sun shone, and the little trees grew tall. One day three woodcutters climbed the mountain. The first woodcutter looked at the first tree and said, "This tree is beautiful. It is perfect for me." With a swoop of his shining ax, the first tree fell. "Now I shall be made into a beautiful chest, I shall hold wonderful treasure!" The first tree said.

The second woodcutter looked at the second tree and said, "This tree is strong. It is perfect for me." With a swoop of his shining ax, the second tree fell. "Now I shall sail mighty waters!" thought the second tree. "I shall be a strong ship for mighty kings!"The third tree felt her heart sink when the last woodcutter looked her way. She stood straight and tall and pointed bravely to heaven. But the woodcutter looked up. "Any kind of tree will do for me." He muttered. With a swoop of his shining ax the third tree fell.

The first tree rejoiced when the woodcutter brought her to a carpenter's shop. But the carpenter fashioned the tree into a feed box for animals. The once beautiful tree was not covered with gold, nor with treasure. She was coated with saw dust and filled with hay for hungry farm animals.

The second tree smiled when the woodcutter took her to a shipyard, but no mighty sailing ship was made that day. Instead the once strong tree was hammered and sawed into a simple fishing boat. She was too small and too weak to sail to an ocean, or even river; instead she was taken to a little lake.

The third tree was confused when the woodcutter cut her into strong beams and left her in a lumberyard. "What happened?" The once tall tree wondered. "All I ever wanted was to stay on the mountain top and point to God...

"Many days and nights passed. The three trees nearly forgot their dreams. But one night, golden starlight poured over the first tree as a young woman placed her newborn baby in the feed box. "I wish I could make a cradle for him." Her husband whispered. The mother squeezed his hand and smiled as the starlight shone on the smooth and the sturdy wood. "This manger is beautiful." She said. And suddenly the first tree knew he was holding the greatest treasure in the world.

One evening a tired traveler and his friends crowded into the old fishing boat. The traveler fell asleep as the second tree quietly sailed out into the lake. Soon a thundering and thrashing storm arose. The little tree shuddered. She knew she did not have the strength to carry so many passengers safely through with the wind and the rain. The tired man awakened. He stood up, stretched out his hand, and said, "Peace." The storm stopped as quickly as it had begun. And suddenly the second tree knew he was carrying the king of heaven and earth.

One Friday morning, the third tree was startled when her beam was Yanked from the forgotten woodpile. She flinched as she was carried through an angry jeering crowd. She shuddered when soldiers nailed a man's hands to her. She felt ugly and harsh and cruel. But on Sunday morning, when the sun rose and the earth trembled with joy beneath her, the third tree knew that God's love had changed everything. It had made the third tree strong. And Every time people thought of the third tree, they would think of God. That was better than being the tallest tree in the world.

So next time you feel down because you didn't get what you want, just sit tight and be happy because God is thinking of something better to give you.
